The next small business problem to solve: News
If you operate a small business (less than 50 employees) and feel the time
has arrived to automate your business.
If you want to keep track of clients, inventory, schedules, accounting,
estimation, billing, vendors, payroll, advertising and you don't know
where to start.
Mom & Pops can help you decide what and how to automate using computers.
We can help you not lose control as you automate your business. We will work together to:
- Figure out what a computer system would have to do for it to be useful in your business.
- Choose between computer programs already written for your business.
- Choose between different manufacturers' computers currently available which are able to run your chosen computer programs.
- Design a customized system if we find that one is not already available or adaptable.
The locality of these Services is Middlesex, NJ and surrounding area as that's where the business is located.

Some Programs which you may wish to have available on your computer are:
- WINZIP from WinZip Allows you to receive compressed files with a
file extension of .zip. These files are zip archive files.
- PGP from MIT Allows you to encrypt files (can only be read by the person
you are sending it to). After you've installed PGP, Save Ed's PGP Key into pgp directory naming it eds_key.asc.
Add it to your keyring using the PGPKeys program Key Import. After Imported, you can send me an encrypted email message. Please send a regular text file. And I'll let you know if I got it encrypted.
- ChangeDetection.com gives notification of a web page when it is changed to
your email box. If you ask ChangeDetection to tell you when there are changes to the News Page (get the
web address from visiting the news page Monitor News Page) then you'll automatically be notified when
there's new projects to be done at Mom & Pop's which you may show an interest
in collaborating on. I'm giving it a whirl.
- Adobe Acrobat reader Allows you to read pdf files (portable document files). Many web publishers publish
in this format. In order to read the test document, you may need to define your browser to save the file to a specific directory on your hard drive, where you can bring up the Acrobat Reader and
open it. Acrobat Test PDF File on this site Also, I found it necessary to
change my control panel display to have settings of 1024X768 in order to get the resolution needed (and changing the size of fonts from small fonts to large fonts)
to view the pdf documents with the reader. Otherwise, you had to zoom in on the picture so much
that it's hard to read a block of text without moving around to get the next word.
- www.acm.org's secure web site Want to check your browser to see how
it handles secure pages defined with the browsers https:// rather than http://.
